Delivery

UK - The main delivery service used by Solent for webshop orders is DPD local.

DPD offer a fully tracked service with the ability to see where your parcel is at any time after pick-up and when to expect delivery.

Options are available to leave in a safe place, change delivery address or date. Please note, if you choose a safe place for delivery this is at your risk so please be sure that it is safe to do so.

We find this type of service is the best option for the majority of our clients and offers peace of mind for both buyer and seller.

For small, low value items we do offer Royal Mail delivery - we are working on offering this on our website but for now it is only available by email / telephone order.

Surcharges and fees:

Sometimes a location can mean higher than expected rates are applied by DPD (and many other couriers) where a property is some distance from a depot or in a difficult to reach location.

Also, for large items such as rolls of fabric most carriers will add a surcharge of £20 or more. Depending on size of your purchase this may be added to the delivery cost at checkout, before you pay.

Other surcharges are added subject to temporary changes such as fuel surcharges, HGV surcharges, COVID surcharges and various others. We do not change our rates when these are added.

Outside UK - We currently do not offer shipping outside of the UK and RoI as couriers are unable to easily handle parcel clearing for small parcels. When we are able to re-introduce shipping to Europe and beyond on our website we will. In the meantime, please email us your requirements and delivery address so that we can quote for shipping to your location. 

Please note - when shipping outside of the UK the buyer is responsible for paying import duties if applicable and local taxes. DPD (or the courier we book) will contact you for payment of these charges before delivery and they may charge you a fee for doing this (usually between £3-50 and £25 but this may vary and is beyond our control).

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is your responsibility to pay the fees, duties and taxes to the courier. If they are not paid, the parcel will be returned to Solent and the delivery & return charges will be deducted from any refund. If the charges are more than already paid a bill will be sent for payment.

Delivery times - will depend on item availability and your location. We aim to dispatch same day but not all items are available immediately. If an item is backordered we will always try to contact you to let you know when to expect the item. DPD UK mainland delivery is usually 1-2 days and all other UK and Ireland locations are 2-3 days.

Partial Shipment - your order will be sent in 1 shipment unless some items are expected more than 2 weeks later, in which case we may part ship the order at no additional charge if agreed by both Solent and yourself (depends on items and location).
